Tooth Agenesis
Asst/Prof Alan Yap – Prosthodontist
BDS (Syd), MDSc Hons (Pros)(Syd), MRACDS (Pros), FAANZP, ITI Fellow

Managing tooth agenesis is rarely a solo endeavour. From the initial paediatric diagnosis to the final restorative outcome, the patient’s journey often spans decades and requires a unified vision across every dental discipline. When a patient presents with congenitally missing teeth, the decisions made in the early years—whether in the orthodontic chair or during a routine check-up—profoundly dictate the restorative possibilities available in adulthood. Join the us for an evening with Asst. Prof. Alan Yap as he explores the clinical decision-making and collaborative strategies necessary to achieve predictable, aesthetic, and functional success in these high-stakes cases.
This session is designed to bridge the gap between specialties, offering insights that resonate across the entire clinical team. For practitioners in early-intervention roles, the focus will be on the critical timing of care and understanding the long-term prosthetic implications of initial treatment choices. Orthodontic and surgical colleagues will find value in the discussion around contemporary site development and the preservation of hard and soft tissue to support future interventions. Simultaneously, the evening will delve into the latest restorative philosophies and technical considerations that allow the prosthodontist and technician to deliver seamless, durable results. By viewing these cases through a multidisciplinary lens, we can better align our goals to provide a cohesive treatment experience that evolves with the patient. This evening offers a high-level masterclass in interdisciplinary excellence.
